SYN COSMETICS | ALL WHITE EVERYTHING
So, I was rummaging through Facebook and I came across a random cosmetics line. I clicked on it, pretty much because the eye makeup on the profile picture was phenomenal. To my surprise, I discovered a fab line. Syn Cosmetics has a range of nail polishes, cheek colors, eye glitters and pigmented shadows that can suit any mood. I browsed the page, saw some pretty dope nail colors and designs that people had made, and also some really cool eye makeup looks. I was instantly sold! One of the products that I picked up was All White Everything, a white glitter polish that has at least four types of glitter in it. I was drawn to this because I’ve never seen this type of glitter… it looks really interesting even through the packaging.
Summer 2012 | Trendy Sightings
Is anyone sad about summer coming to an end? August is my birthday month, and I’m a vivacious leo so I love everything summer has to offer. Well, everything except sunburn. Haha… one time is enough warning! Anyway, I’ve beep spotting some really cute trends or eye makeup that are a little more daring than others this year. Some of my faves have been things like neons, tons of glitter, and even natural smokey (which will always be a fave of mine). Here are some looks that I recreated showing you my favorite trends:
This is a look that I showcased on my Facebook page. I love using colors that remind me of mermaids and beach fun. I love being by the water, and this look just takes me there!
DIY EARRINGS | CUPCAKE BUTTONS
Some of you know that I’ve been really into DIY lately… mainly jewelry and thrifting, you know the whole deal. I really like making my own earrings out of cute buttons that I find. If you saw my post about some other diy jewelry that I did, you will see that there are some pretty interesting buttons out there. The ones that I pick up are ones that I would NEVER wear as buttons, but I still find them unique, so I make them into earrings! It’s simple… all you need is a heavy duty glue (I use E-9000) and some earring posts. You can find both things at any craft store. I found these buttons at JoAnn’s Fabric and Crafts and loved them just because they’re playful (and my sister loves cupcakes so I made some for her too). The buttons actually came without the two pink rhinestones that you see, I added them on for a little dazzle

A DIY night out
With today’s economy, I’m always tight with money… let’s face it, a lot of us are! Beauty is not only who you are on the outside, but it’s who you present yourself as on the outside . I like to keep up with certain fashion trends, but I’m not always allowed to go out and spend money frivolously. So, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube lately and have become really interested in thrifting. I’ve done some DIY photos on this blog to show you different jewelry pieces I’ve made, but clothing is a completely different avenue for me. I’ve just been really daring and decided to try it. My company decided to take two of our top selling liquor girls out to dinner… on them! You know I needed a new outfit! I almost never go shopping anymore, I just can’t spare the money. So I’ve been going to the thrift store and finding things that I can recreate! I wanted a fresh outfit that wasn’t too casual or too dressy. I’ve been having my eye on some floral shorts, so I grabbed this romper that I’ve outgrown and cut off the top to make the shorts a separate piece.
The part of the romper that connects the bottom to the top was rouched so the end result was still rouched at the top as well. In this particular outfit, I wore a shirt that covered the rouching so it was no big deal.
These are the shorts after cutting and sewing the folded top:
The denim vest is also thrifted. It’s originally from Charlotte Russe, but I got it for $5. I simply cut off the sleeves, took away the pockets, and frayed the holes. I actually had to cut more into the jacket a bit rather than just removing the sleeves. This particular jacket was more shoulder-heavy if you get what I mean. I had originally planned to make it a studded vest but changed my plans. I just might make that a second project.
The shirt is from Ross Dress for Less… I got it last year. I wore the whole outfit with with some nude pumps that I got from ShoeDazzle. Does anyone else love them like I do?
Hope you enjoyed this look! I’m having so much fun thrifting and doing DIY projects. Look out for more coming soon!
Anastasia Beverly Hills | See and Be Seen Kit
Anastasia Beverly Hills also sent me this product:
I absolutely LOVE this kit! The only downfall about it is that it doesn’t have a cool blush to go along with it. It comes with an Illuminating Eye Duo (On Set), a Caramel brow gel, and two Hydrafull lip glosses called Heiress and Plastic.
When I initially opened the kit, my first impression was that the caramel brow gel would not be for me. I use a black shadow to fill in my brows, so I was sure that caramel would be too light. However, once I tried the product, the gel fit right in with my brows and only gave them an illuminating finish. And when I say illuminating, I don’t mean glittery by any means. I just mean a nice sunkissed finish.
Here’s more photos of the product:

My thoughts on each product:
The Illumin8 Eye Shadow duo was really light, but just enough to open up my eyes. I definitely don’t mind this type of look for summer because I don’t want to look too done up in the heat.
Like I said earlier, I thought the Caramel Brow Gel was going to be too overwhelming, but it was just enough to set my brows and give them a nice brown undertone.
My favorite part of the kit by far were the Hydrafull Glosses. So many lip products out there claim to hydrate and last long, but you come to find otherwise. Not only do these glosses last forever, but once they absorb into the skin on your lips they turn into lip stains. I love love love lip stains, so the Hydrafull Glosses alone are a 5/5 for me!
This kit is available for a few more weeks! Get yours now from Sephora or Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Genius Product Review
So I recently received some products in the mail from an Anastasia Beverly Hills rep. One of the products I received was something a little different… I’ve never seen anything like it on the market. It’s called Lash Genius, and it’s a clear topcoat that instantly waterproofs and freshens your lashes. In the past, I’ve avoided waterproof mascaras because they make my lashes crunchy and by the end of the day, the mascara chips off right underneath my eyes giving me a ridiculous raccoon effect. Waterproof mascaras also are a pain to remove at the end of the night. So, more or less, they are NOT my favorite. I’ll do anything to avoid buying them.
Lash Genius is, in a nutshell, a great product. Not only does it instantly refresh your lashes while waterproofing them, it also makes them look fuller. If you’re a falsies gal, you can wear Lash Genius to mesh your falsies with your real lashes to give off a more natural feel. And also, through my experience, I felt that Lash Genius:
- locks my mascara in place
- doesn’t make my lashes feel brittle
- doesn’t pull out my lashes
- was lightweight
It also doesn’t have any parabens or fragrances; it’s also hypoallergenic and cruelty-free.
When I received this product, I was a little hesitant. I’m not used to wearing waterproof, and I instantly thought this product would be like the others. Who’s to say it wasn’t ? Even though this product was sent to me for review, I will always give my honest opinion. I absolutely loved this product simply because it locked my mascara into place and still gave the appearance and feel of healthy, lush lashes. How often can you say that about a lash product? There are so many products out there that contain harmful ingredients just so the consumer can get the desired effect.
Lash Genius is a clear gel. The mascara wand is big enough to plump lashes and distribute the product effectively. Since I don’t wear false lashes, I only tried this product on my natural lashes and I was definitely satisfied with the results. To remove the product, I used some extra virgin olive oil on a cotton pad.
Let’s go in for the product breakdown:
Packaging: 5/5
Product promises: 5/5
Ease of use: 5/5
Long-lasting: 5/5
Worth your money: 4/5
Overall, this product is a 4.8/5. I love the chic packaging and the modern text, love the mascara wand and how it fluffs my lashes, and I also love how lightweight the gel is.
You can buy this product at Anastasia Beverly Hills or at Sephora.

I’ve tried something new with my twist set…
So normally when I do my twist sets, I normally just finger tousle my hair to give it a beachy look. Unfortunately, I’ve become bored with the way the results are coming out so i decided to find some ways to reinvent my hair for summer time!
First, I decided to start doing less twists. Now I only do three… they are much larger and it allows for looser curls.
I make sure to use a leave in conditioner spray to help keep my hair soft. You can even use a bit of shine serum to sit in your hair overnight. This way, you don’t have to apply the serum in the morning and risk losing your curls.
Once I wake up in the morning, I unravel the twists with my fingers, finger tousle them, and then I go through the twists with a wide tooth comb. My curls come out so much more voluminous, and they also have a more natural feel.
I’ve finally found my go-to style for summer
Let me note: My hair is about a month post-relaxer. This style works for me now, but I have a feeling that once it starts growing out that this style won’t work anymore. For now, this will be my summer style.
Some products you might want to consider using:
Motions Leave-In Conditioner
Spray GVP Silk Remedy
This style can be done with any hair type. You have to remember, your hair will do anything as long as its properly set

Hello Hydration!
Now that summer is officially here, let’s make sure we stay beautiful. Let’s get one thing straight though: beauty isn’t just about how you look, it’s more about how you take care of yourself. I believe I’m beautiful because I do my best to take care of my body inside and out, and I also have great character. True beauty is about being a natural beauty, and summer time is the best way to show the world what you’ve got! Let’s get a few things straight, there are several ways to get your skin and body into shape this summer without being worn out. Here are a few tricks that you may want to keep up your sleeve:
There’s no better way to keep your skin hydrated than by drinking water. Make sure you stock up on water in your fridge: ice cold agua is the best treat when the sun is showing no mercy on Earth. Water also helps to get rid of toxins in your body. Some of these toxins contribute to skin serious issues. Wipe them out by making sure you’re guzzling water and cleansing your skin daily. If you can’t always have water within arm’s reach, try to carry a hydrating facial mist for your skin. Sun beams can dry out your skin, so you want to make sure you’re getting some type of moisture. You can try Evian’s Mineral Facial Mist. I’ve used it on hot trips to the zoo, and it provides an instant, refreshed feeling.
SPF isn’t just made for your skin, you can also spritz some on your hair. Ladies, if you use a flatiron during the summer months, you definitely want to make sure you’re using SPF for your hair in addition to a heat protectant spray. The same rules apply here; if the sun is going to dry out your skin, it will do the same to your hair. UV rays can weaken the hair by drawing out natural oils, and we all know you can’t have thirsty hair. Using a little bit of SPF spritz when you step out can keep your hair protected and stop it from breaking off so easily. You can also find different oil sprays for some quick rejuvenation. My favorite is the Argan Oil Spray Treatment from One’n’Only. To make a SPF treat for your hair, mix two parts water, a little bit of oil, and a bit of sunscreen in a spray bottle. This way, you have a mist that protects and rejuvenates!
Your lips are also a great spot to keep hydrated. The first thing people see are your eyes, then your skin, and lastly, your lips. Keep your lips on their A game by choosing a light lip balm with emollient properties like jojoba oil and Vitamin E. I tried the EOS Organic Lip Balm stick; it’s ecofriendly, all natural, and above all a great soother for your lips. Also, remember to exfoliate your lips to keep them supple. An easy way to get this task done in a heartbeat is to take a little Vaseline and apply to your lips. Then take a paper towel, put it between your lips and move it in a side to side motion while your lips clamp down on it. This removes dead skin without irritating the thin skin on your lips.
Happy hydrating ladies!
