FlexiRod Trial
I promised myself last summer that I would only wear textured styles that required little or no heat and… let’s just say I’m not so good with keeping promises to myself. I ended up styling my hair with the flatiron or curling iron at least one a week… sometimes even TWICE!
This summer, I’m really going to try harder to cut heat out of my life, or at least try not to use it so much. I’ve been experimenting with textured styles for the last week or so, and I’ve found two that I really like. The first is a twist set on wet hair. Last year, I would do a twist set on blowdried hair but I’m crazy about the set on wet. It lasts longer and the curls are tighter and more defined than a twist set with dry hair.
The second is a flexirod set. I just tried this for the first time this morning, and it’s def a style for the summer. I did a decent job for my first try, but it could have been better. My roots are still a little puffy because of my newgrowth. Even some of my curls are puffy; I have relaxed hair, but it’s not 100% straight… I still have tons of texture and curls from when I was natural.
It took me a little while to get the rods in but I eventually got the hang of it.
I used Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Split End Mender along with some IC Fantasia Frizz Buster Serum to prep freshly washed hair. I normally use the One’n'Only Argan Oil Serum but I ran out! Uh, yeah… I was livid about that but the frizz buster worked just fine…
